IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth Durwin
Hughes

Ken Hughes was born in Leaksville, NC in 1944 to Dewey and Pearl Hughes. He passed away May 19th, 2021 of natural causes. He was an United States Army Veteran and served in South Korea, Germany and The Middle East. Ken was a trained engineer, carpenter, inventor, mechanic, writer…a jack of all trades. He also enjoyed motorcycles, sports cars and sailing. He was a world traveler and made friends wherever he went. Ken was also known as Mr. Ozone and owned his water and air treatment systems business. He built and installed equipment aboard scientific research vessels and private yachts from around the world. Ken spent his last 15 years in Decatur, TX and was a familiar face at Trinity Coffee Bar in downtown Decatur. He loved spending time with friends and family get-togethers. He is survived by his wife Diane Hughes; son and daughter Kevin and Kristy Hughes; grandchildren Hannah, Ben, Jordan, and Christian Hughes and Sean, Evan and Logan Blackburn; and sister Bonnie Christley. He was always proud of his family and "loved them madly" as he would say. He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him.
