Kenneth Wayne Shields passed away March 30, 2024. Kenneth was 84 years old. He was born on September 14, 1939, in Celeste, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Ann (Cahill) Shields; sons, Christopher Darrell Shields & Gary Ray Shields; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Shields; sister, Barbara Joyce (Shields) White; & parents, Wayne Franklin & Nona France (Gibbs) Shields.

Kenneth is survived by his brother, Jerry Ray Shields; children, Kenneth Lee, Karen Denine, Donna Kay & Kathy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; extended family & a host of friends.

Kenneth graduated from Sunset High School in 1958 & received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1983 from Southern Methodist University. He was a Certified Professional Engineer in Texas & specialized in target detection & ranging & missile defense. He retired from Raytheon.

Kenneth was extraordinarily lucky in life, getting to work at a career that he loved, finding & sharing life with his true love, & having wonderful children & excellent friends.

The family would like to thank Stan the Man for 5 years of tirelessly taking care of our parents and solely taking care of our dad the past 3 years. He took care of them through the pandemic making sure they always had everything they needed, and he drove 60 miles one way every day to do this. The past three he has made sure our dad was taken care of the two became best of friends. Our dad loved Stan like a son.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 15, 2024, at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton at 5:30 P.M.
