Kerry Gene Pittman, age 75, passed away in Pilot Point, Denton Co., Texas on Thursday, 24 July 2024. He was born in Waxahachie, Ellis Co., Texas on 15 September 1948 to Everett Gene and Bobbie Gnell (nee Hyles) Pittman. He grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas, graduating from Grand Prairie High School. During his high school years, he was a lifeguard at Cottonwood Pool near his family's house in Grand Prairie. He attended the University of Texas at Arlington for a couple of years, then transferred and graduated Valedictorian out of a class of 3 at Northwood Institute.

Kerry married Karen Fay Karnes on 24 February 1972 in Grand Prairie. In June of that year Kerry began serving in the U.S. Navy, soon to become a sonar technician because of his superior hearing. He served 2 years as an enlisted man, and another 2 years as an officer over the sonar techs.  When he got out, he and Karen, who now had 2 children, Julie Leanne Pittman and Mark Scott Pittman, moved back to Texas to be near their parents. They settled in Denton, Texas for a job that only lasted 6 months. But then he got his dream job in Research and Development working for Rockwell International in Richardson, north of Dallas. There he worked with microscopic electronic parts until he was laid off after only 2 years. After that he worked as an electronic technician at E-Systems in Garland, where his extraordinary brain and capacity to think outside the box became a great resource to his co-workers. When the long drive became too much and E-Systems also decided to downsize, Kerry found a job working for the City of Denton in the Communications Dept. until he retired in 2008.

Kerry is preceded in death by his parents and oldest child Julie. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen (nee Karnes) Pittman and son Mark Scott Pittman (and his wife Bonnie and Kerry's grandchildren Emily and Brayden Pittman), as well as his younger brother Ron (and wife Naulene and their 2 children and their families) and youngest brother Steve (and his wife Donna Kay).

Funeral services will be held Monday, 5 August 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8801 Martop Rd, Cross Roads, TX 76227, with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton. Family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Monday, 5 August 2024.
