Kirk Wm. Starks, 62, of Corinth, TX passed away on August 9, 2016. He was born on February 4, 1954 in Dodge City, KS to William M. (Bill) and Dora Lee Starks.
A memorial service will be held at DeBerry Funeral Home located in Denton, Texas on August 27, 2016 at 3:00 pm. A private burial will be at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas.
Kirk was a graduate of the University of Kansas. While at KU he was a member of the Alpha Xi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He later became a life member. He was also a member of the Dallas Alumni Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. His career was in residential and commercial real estate.
Kirk was an avid hunter, a proficient trap and skeet shooter and skilled rifle marksman. Kirk was the Class A Kansas State singles trap champion in 1972. In 1988 Kirk and his cousin, Chris Starks, won the world two-man team 20 gauge skeet championship in Savannah, Georgia. Kirk was an alternate to the U.S.A. Olympic Trap Team for the Munich Summer Games. He remained a hunter and target shooter until becoming ill. Kirk was very creative, generous and was a skilled craftsman.
Survivors include his wife, Judy of Corinth, TX; son, William Starks of Woodland Park, CO; stepson, Luke and wife Crissy Waters of Wilson, WY; stepdaughter Colleen McIntosh of Corinth, TX; and one granddaughter, Lucy Waters of Wilson, WY. He is also survived by his mother Dora Lee Starks of Dodge City, KS; brothers, Greg and wife Jan Starks of Dodge City, KS; Jon and wife Kathy Starks of Salina, KS. Kirk had several nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends whom he loved dearly.
Kirk is preceded in death by his father: William M. (Bill) Starks.
