Kurt W. Newbrand, 60, of Corinth, Texas, passed away on November 13, 2021, in Denton. He was born on December 30, 1960, to Allen and Edith Newbrand in Hamilton, Ohio.

Kurt had a brilliant mind and loved mathematics. He received a B.S. in Physics and an M.S. in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. He began his career at IBM in Poughkeepsie, New York where he met his wife.

He married Jennie in 1989 at St. John's Lutheran Church in her hometown of Topeka, Kansas. In 1990, he transferred to IBM Texas.

In 1995, he joined the team at Vizient, Inc. (formerly VHA, Inc.), and he worked there for 26 years. He began as a Data Administrator and was steadily promoted to roles such as Data Architect and his current position as Lead Infrastructure Engineer, where he was responsible for technical leadership over 3,000 SQL server databases for Vizient. Vizient is a purchasing consortium for non-profit health care systems.

In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, especially with his dad, and spending time with his children. Kurt and Jennie visited Grand Teton National Park three times before the birth of their first child, and Kurt loved the mountains.

Kurt also enjoyed science fiction shows and movies, playing video games with his son, and listening to music from the 80s, especially Pat Benatar and Joan Jett.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie, daughters, Kathleen Newbrand and Rachel Newbrand, son, Kevin Newbrand, his father, Allen, and sisters, Denise Newbrand (Marco Huerta) of Shady Shores, Texas, and Debbie VanOurkerk of Oceanside, California.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 18, 2021, from 1-2 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Corinth, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas.
