Obituary

Larry August Kerner joined his many friends and relatives with The Lord on November 1st, 2014. He was 64. Larry was born in Denton, Texas on April 4th, 1950. He was the oldest son born to Melvin & Ruby Kerner. He passed away peacefully at his home in Denton with his loving wife of 36 years, Donna, and his two daughters, Shannon and Shelby, his mother, Ruby and other Loved Ones at his side.

Larry grew up in Denton. He attended Denton High School and graduated with the Class of 1968. He joined Peterbuilt Motor Company in 1980, and worked there for over 30 years.

Larry had a quick wit, entertaining friends and family with jokes and stories. He loved working in his yard and could often be seen sitting outside waving to the passing cars on Sherman Drive. He was a very loving man and had a way of making everyone feel welcome and like part of the family.

He is survived by his wife Donna and two daughters – Shannon Kerner Floyd and husband Jonathan of Little Elm; Shelby Kerner of Bedford; and grandchild Jaxie. He also leaves behind his mother Ruby Kerner, brother Tommy Kerner and wife Christy, and other loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Melvin Kerner.

Pallbearers will be Willie Edwards, Frank Pooler, Carl Anderson, Alan Calvert, Jim Fykes, and Danny Cockrell.

The family would like to express a special thank you to all of the wonderful nurses, doctors, especially his buddy Dr. Carlos Cruz, UT Southwestern Physical Therapists, Faith Presbyterian Hospice, First Choice Home Health Care, and all of our great friends and family for their support during this difficult journey.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday November 5th, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at DeBerry Funeral Directors. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 6th, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton.
