Obituary

Larry Allen Patterson passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, in Denton, Texas at the age of 77. He will be profoundly missed, but his legacy will continue to resonate within the hearts of those he touched.

Larry was born on November 21, 1948, in Waco, Texas to Henry and Agnes (Barrett) Patterson. He grew up in Waco, Texas and graduated from Richfield High School in 1967. He attended Tyler Community College for one year, then transferred to Baylor University where he graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor's of Business Administration. He was forever a Baylor Bears fan.

He married his best friend, Kathy, on September 24, 1988 in Dallas, Texas. Larry was a man of strong faith, devoted to the church and to his family. His love for the Lord and studying the Bible was a constant in his life. Larry enjoyed Western movies, fishing, playing games with his family, movie soundtracks, mint chocolate chip ice cream, and root beer floats. He and Kathy enjoyed taking road trips, especially to the mountains. One of his recent favorite trips was to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks.

As a teenager, Larry worked as a paper delivery boy during the school year and at the glass factory during the summers. As an adult, he had a career of Sales that lead to entrepreneurship. He started his own businesses - Patson Resource Solutions and Patson Enterprises. After his retirement from Sales, he volunteered regularly for The Oasis (a memory care group) through Valley Ridge Church, The First Baptist Church of Lewisville.

Larry is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathy (Shook), and his two sons: Matthew and wife Laura; John and wife Lindsay; and his daughter, Shay and husband Jonathan Sprague. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Noah, Sofia, Elias, and Baby Boy Sprague (due in March). He is reunited in heaven with his parents, Henry and Agnes Patterson, his sister Janet Patterson Everett, his maternal grandparents, John and Nettie Barrett, and his paternal grandparents, Beulah and Matthew Patterson.

As we reflect on Larry's life, we celebrate the joy, love, and laughter he brought into our lives. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and his light will continue to shine in all of us. He is forever in our hearts.

A visitation will be held in Larry's memory on February 3, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors, located at 2025 W University Dr, Denton, TX 76201. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 2:00 PM, allowing family and friends to come together to celebrate Larry's life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Oasis. The Oasis, an Early-Stage Alzheimer's/Dementia Program, is an outreach ministry of The First Baptist Church of Lewisville partnering with the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Dallas.
