With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Larry Chad Shaw, beloved son and cherished friend, who left us on March 8, 2026, at the age of 58. Chad, as he was fondly known, was born on October 16, 1967, in Denton, Texas, to Larry Dwain (Butch) and Carolyn Ann Furr Shaw. As their firstborn, he brought immense joy to his family, setting the tone for a life filled with kindness and love.
A proud member of the Denton High School class of 1988, Chad was a beacon of light in the lives of those who had the privilege to know him. He embodied true goodness, his humble spirit shining through in every interaction. Friends and colleagues alike often spoke of his heartfelt caring demeanor, his generous soul reflecting the love that God bestowed upon him.
Chad's journey began at Wyatt's Cafeteria where he found joy in serving others, always greeting guests with a warm smile and genuine kindness. Many patrons visited just to experience the friendly atmosphere he created. His passion for helping others was evident throughout his life.
A faithful follower of Jesus, Chad found solace in reading his Bible and attending Sunday services at First Baptist Church in Denton, a place that nurtured his spiritual growth throughout his life. His faith was a guiding light, and he embraced the love of Jesus wholeheartedly.
In his leisure time, Chad nurtured a passion for collecting comic books—a hobby that brought him great joy, as he amassed boxes full of treasured volumes. Attending Comic Con conventions was a highlight for him, where he enjoyed immersing himself in the world of his favorite characters like Batman, Superman, and Dr. Who. His enthusiasm for video games added another layer of joy to his life.
Chad is lovingly remembered by his devoted mother, Carolyn. He was preceded in death by his father, his brother Corey Todd Shaw, and his beloved grandparents: C.L. and Jessie Furr, Murl and Faye Calvert, and R.T. Shaw.
As we bid farewell to Chad, we find comfort in knowing that he is now embraced by Jesus, reunited with family and friends in heaven. His spirit will forever remain in our hearts, a reminder to cherish every moment of kindness and love.
