Obituary

Laura Elizabeth Shoemake Kellar
November 17, 1955 – January 19, 2025

After a brief illness, Laura Elizabeth Shoemake Kellar, a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and accomplished computer programmer passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 19, 2025, in Grapevine, Texas.

Laura was born on November 17, 1955, in San Angelo, Texas. In 1960, she moved with her family to Hurst, Texas where she graduated from L.D. Bell High School. After high school, she enrolled at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. Though her studies were interrupted as she dedicated herself to marriage and raising a family, Laura never lost her love for learning.

Later in life, she renewed her pursuit of a college degree in Computer Science at Texas Woman's University in Denton, graduating and embarking on a successful career as a computer programmer. A trailblazer in her field, Laura's dedication and innovative spirit stood out during a time when women were just beginning to make their mark in technology. Her contributions inspired colleagues and left a meaningful impact on those who followed in her footsteps.

Laura's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her two beloved daughters, D'Ann Wagner (Billy) and Sharon Seeley (Hayden). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Steven Kellar and Haley Wagner, and her adored great-grandsons, Ezra and Jax. Laura treasured her sisters, Janice Foster (Curtis) and Sarah Andrews, and shared a lifetime of love and friendship with them. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Max and Jay Dean Shoemake.

Known for her sharp wit, generous heart, and infectious laughter, Laura brought warmth and joy to everyone she met. Her legacy of kindness and strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. A celebration of Laura's life will be held at a later date to honor her memory and the remarkable life she lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Laura's values and generous spirit.
