Laura Jane Whitworth of Denton passed away on May 27, 2024, at the Presbyterian Hospital of Denton. She was born November 1, 1944 in Wellington, Texas, to Alva Elbert Reddoch and Dora Oleta Callender Reddoch. Janie grew up in Amarillo, TX and was a violinist in the Tascosa High School Orchestra. She married Lyle Jackson Whitworth and they moved to Denton and were married for 52 years. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2018. They were members of the Denton Church of Christ for many years. Janie was a homemaker and bookkeeper for Whitworth Electric.
Her family was her priority and spending time with them was her joy. She loved watching movies, gardening, music, and singing. Most of all, she loved the Lord.
The family will be at the Denton Church of Christ on Saturday, June 1, 2024, for visitation, at 12:00 noon. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m., with interment following at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
Janie is survived by daughters; Jeannie Howell and husband, Ian, of Denton, Sherry Hernandez and husband, James, of Denton, Corinia Maxson and husband, Kevin, of Denton, Sarah Whitworth, of Denton, and her sons, Jonathan Whitworth and wife, Amy, of Sanger, Texas, Michael Whitworth and wife, Kimberly, of Kennedale, Texas.
Seven grandchildren; Ariel Risley and husband, Adam; Amanda Whitworth; Amber Spigner and husband, Garrett; Robert Maxson and wife, Cierra; Holly Sparks and husband, Kolton; Brandon Whitworth and wife, Brittney, and Richard Howell.
Three great grandsons: Liam Maxson, Lincoln Maxson, and Micah Risley.
