Lawanda Lee Garrison, beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted member of her community, passed away peacefully at the age of 94. Born on July 12, 1931, in Oswalt, Oklahoma, Lawanda grew up surrounded by family, faith, and the values that shaped her generous and steadfast spirit.

Lawanda married the love of her life, Jesse Bennie Garrison, on October 31, 1948, in Gainesville TX. They shared many years of marriage and a growing family before Jesse's passing.

A dedicated and compassionate nurse, Lawanda served her patients and community for more than 30 years, working in the Denton area. Her skill, warmth, and steady presence brought comfort to countless individuals and families throughout her career.

She made Aubrey her home beginning in 1964 and quickly became an integral part of the community. A woman of strong conviction, Lawanda was a committed member of the Christian faith where she found fellowship, joy, and purpose.

Lawanda was preceded in death by her parents Wheeler and Bonnie Carlile, her husband Jesse, and her son Derrell.

She is survived by her son Howard and Jacquilin Garrison of Forestburg TX., her son Gary and Janie Garrison of Aubrey TX., her son Jesse Garrison of Lone Grove OK., and daughter Cynthia Penley of Ardmore OK. who loved her dearly and by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will continue to carry her legacy forward. Her family remembers her as a source of unwavering support, wisdom, and love.

Her life was marked by faith, service, and kindness. Those who knew her will forever cherish her gentle guidance, her strength, and the compassion she extended to all.

Lawanda's family and friends celebrate her long, meaningful life and the deep impact she made on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation for Lawanda will be held on Thursday, November 20 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas; her funeral service will be the following day, November 21, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral home. On Saturday, November 22, at 11:00am, Lawanda will be laid to rest at  Mill Creek Cemetery in Oklahoma.
