Lela Sue Durham, 64, of Durant, Oklahoma passed away on April 17, 2021 in Sherman, Texas. She was born on December 17, 1956 in Nocona, Texas to Joe and Mary (Willeby) Durham.
Lela grew up in Argyle, Texas and graduated from Denton High School. Her son, Shaun was her pride and joy. She was a proud grandmother of her only grandson, Barrett, and was known as Tia Grande to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She loved spending time in the kitchen, and there will forever be a pit in our stomachs without her infamous sausage balls, pies and cakes. She was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation and a long time volunteer at the North Texas State Fair & Rodeo. She loved listening to country music, spending time with family and friends, and playing bingo. Lela will be loved and missed by many.
She is survived by her son, Shaun Durham and wife, Vera of Krum, Texas, sister, Kathy Stapleton and husband Ed of Brownsville, Texas, brothers, Marvin Durham and wife Gwen of Argyle, Texas, Ray Durham and wife Lisa of Justin, Texas and grandson, Barrett Durham. She is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews, as well as 11 great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father.
A Celebration of Lela's life will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas.
