Obituary

After a long and fruitful life, Leo has been reunited for eternity with his beloved wife Mary, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.  He was born to Emadean and Harlon Jones in Rush Springs, OK where he spent his early years and several boyhood summers.  During his school years in Oklahoma City he enjoyed activities with lifelong friend Ray Sneed, the Boy Scouts where he obtained a rank of Eagle, and began a membership with the Freemasons.  Leo was an accomplished bowler, trout fisherman, dancer, musician, and enjoyed camping, golf, and gardening.  Upon graduating in the class of 1945 from Classen High, Leo enlisted in the U.S Navy serving as a Yeoman 3rd Class during WWII until his honorable discharge in 1946. Wasting no time he enrolled at Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State) and graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1950.  Leo began a 42 year career with the Halliburton Company as first a field engineer, district manager, and then manager of training and tool testing in Duncan, OK.

Leo married Mary Ann McLain in 1950 and the native Oklahomans spent the next 26 years in Texas where they raised three children, Linda Schulz of Denison TX (husband Max); Steven Jones of Edmond OK (wife Cindi); and Denise DeRusha of Aubrey TX (husband Randy).  Leo was "Papa" to seven grandchildren, Leslie (Schulz) Auvenshine, Joshua Hallman, William Jones, Matthew Jones, Kirby DeRusha, Daniel DeRusha, Joseph DeRusha and four great grandchildren, Scott & Avery Auvenshine and Andrew & Elliot Hallman.

Leo and Mary moved to Willow Bend Assisted Living in Denton, TX in 2011.  After the passing of Mary, Leo stayed on there as a resident becoming an active volunteer keeping busy helping other residents and staff with daily activities. Leo's family wishes to thank the residents and staff at Willow Bend for the companionship and assistance that made his final years there so enjoyable.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday Sept. 9th, 2017 at Willow Bend Assisted Living, 2125 Brinker Rd, Denton, TX at 2:30 P.M.
