LeRoy (Lee) Wesley Baseler, Jr., passed away on November 23, 2021. He was born on December 1, 1944 in Grove City, PA., to LeRoy and Margaret (Simpson) Baseler, Sr.
Lee graduated in 1962 from Reynolds High School in Greenville, Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Army from May 10, 1965 until May 9, 1968. While serving in Vietnam, he was awarded the Medal of Honor from the South Vietnamese Government and honored with two Citations from the American Armed Forces. Lee was also awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Overseas Bars.
During his service, Lee worked as an advisor for the Prisoner of War Camp where he was a member of the American Command Advisory Team.
While in Vietnam, Lee served as a photographer, As a result of his service, Lee suffered many health issues for many years as having been exposed to Agent Orange.
LeRoy married Beverly (Dray) on February 4, 1967 in Greenville, PA. They had 54 wonderful years together. He was a Senior Pharmaceutical Buyer which led him to live in many places, including Greenville, PA., Kent, OH, Lewisville, TX., Noblesville, IN and eventually retiring in Lewisville, TX. Some of the companies he worked for include, Greenville Wholesale, Harris Wholesale, Foxmeyer, McKesson, and Cardinal Health. He was very respected in the industry and received many awards.
Lee enjoyed being an outdoor sportsman as well as, camping, traveling, music, his pets and a love of cars. Lee was always ready for an adventure. Lee was a true man of God, with a giving heart and a believer of Jesus Christ being his Lord and Savior. He was honored to serve in many churches in his lifetime as a Deacon and as a board member. He recently served on the board for Eaglepointe Church in Denton, TX., for over 14 years. He loved and adored his wife, and his daughters with all his heart. Lee treasured spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, daughters, Sherri Baseler of Lewisville, TX., Kristine Torres and her husband, Angelo of Lewisville, TX., sister, Lorna Frye and her husband, Robert of Greenville, PA., brother, Dale Baseler of Hartstown, PA., sister-in-law, Kathy Artherholt, of Mercer, PA., and grandson, Jacob Whitten. Lee is also survived by nephew and nieces, Shawn Fritz of Shakleyville, PA., Rachelle Reed of Greenville, PA., Clint Frye of Muenster, TX., Michealle Artherholt of Greenville, PA., Scott Artherholt of Greenville, PA., Monica Jack of Grove City, PA., and many great nieces and nephews. Many others considered him as a father, grandfather and uncle with great respect and love.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Funeral Services will be held at Eaglepointe Church in Denton, TX on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends from 10-11AM prior to the service.
Interment will follow at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, TX at 1:30 PM.
