LeRoy Starnes, 90, of Denton passed away on October 29, 2018 in Denton. He was born on November 15, 1927 to James and Minnie (Huitt) Starnes.

His early years were spent in Krum.  LeRoy married Ruby Nell Birdsong on June 14th, 1947.  He joined the Army in 1946.  In 1992 he was the 103rd person to receive a heart transplant at St. Paul hospital.

He worked at Acme Brick for 23 years then retired from Ling-Tempco Vaught in 1980.  LeRoy was a member of Willowwood Nazarene Church since 1960 where he was the head usher for 50 years.

He is survived by his daughters; Carole Hunt and Peggy Lee Walters, son, James Starnes, brother Leonard Starnes, grandchildren; Lesa Deprater, Mark Berg, Michele Moon, Jason Starnes, and Rachel Acord and many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Starnes, sister, Catherine Patterson, brothers, Jack Starnes, James Starnes, Jessie "Jiggs" Starnes, William "Bill" Starnes, his grandson Michael Starnes, and his mother and father.

The family will receive friends on Thursday night, at Willowwood Church of The Nazarene in Denton on November 1, 2018 from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the church on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Jackson Cemetery in Krum, Texas.
