Obituary

Les Clampitt went to his heavenly home on September 21, 2025, while surrounded by his family. He was born on June 14, 1938, in Cross Roads, Texas to Opal Christian Clampitt and Marshall Clampitt. Growing up in a farming family, Les learned the value of hard work from an early age.

On June 17, 1960, Les married the love of his life, Laveta Joy Jones. Together, they raised three beautiful children: Kim, Chris, and Paige.

Les graduated from North Texas State University. After earning his degree, he began his career at Mobil Oil Company. He later joined Moore Business Forms, where he remained until his retirement. Les concluded his professional journey by founding his own company, CLC Business Products, which he operated with the same passion and integrity that defined his life.

He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys and UNT sports fan. Les also enjoyed playing golf and spending quality time with his family and friends.

Les was a faithful deacon at Southmont Baptist Church where he served in many capacities. He was a proud member of the Denton Noon Kiwanis Club and was honored as Kiwanian of the Year. Les also helped start the Moore Credit Union.

Les is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Laveta Joy Clampitt; and his three children: daughter Kim Clampitt Yarbrough of Denton, Texas; son Chris Clampitt and Diane Travis of Sanger, Texas; and daughter Paige and husband Troy Spillman, of Denton, Texas.

His pride and joy were his grandchildren: Blake Spillman, Brooke Spillman and Nick Johnson, Madison and husband Dylan Brown, Hayden Yarbrough, and Jesse Amberson. He was also blessed with two precious great-granddaughters: Illene Brown and Peyton Johnson. He is survived by his sister, Brenda Clampitt of Atlanta, Texas, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; his brothers, Kenneth R. (Bud) Clampitt and Roger Clampitt; and his sisters, Nita DeBerry, Betty Nichols, and Martha Kay Clampitt.

A visitation will be held Saturday, September 27th at 2:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm at Southmont Baptist Church. Les will be laid to rest at Valley View Cemetery.
