Letitia Arlene
(Casteel) Batey
June 27, 1930 – July 11, 2018
Letitia Arlene (Casteel) Batey passed away on July 11, 2018 in Plano, Texas. She was 88. Tish, as she was known, was born on June 27, 1930 in Anahauc, Texas.
Letitia was raised in Houston and graduated from Lamar High School. She went on to North Texas State University where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics. Tish married Robert W. Batey in Hamshire, Texas on December 24, 1950. She lived and worked in Denton until the family moved to Dallas, Texas in 1960. Tish retired after 35 years as a Licensed Dietitian. The major part of her career was spent in Garland ISD as Head Dietitian where she continued her lifelong friendship with her co-workers. She loved to eat at The Circle Grill, cheer for the Dallas Cowboys, and dance at Ma Brand's.
Tish is survived by her sisters, Mary Ellen Stenborg and husband, Jim, of Georgetown, TX, Barbara Payne and husband, Tommy of AZ. Three children, Larisa Lee Eubanks and husband Ron of McKinney, TX, Elaine Batey McDonald of Jacksonville, TX and Robert W. Batey, Jr. and wife, Lea Ann of Temple, TX. Three grandchildren, Lacy Haney and husband Grant, Vance McDonald and wife Meredith, Casey Guzman and husband David. Tish especially enjoyed her 5 great grandchildren, Zane, Ramzee, Kinley, Audrey and Dailey as well as many cousins in S.E. Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Byron Wharton and Lena Mae (Shellhammer) Casteel.
Services for Letitia will be graveside at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 10:00 A.M.
