Linda Janet Scott, 70, of Denton passed away at her home on January 10, 2016. Linda was born on November 30, 1945 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Lanham and Ivy (Lane) Atkinson.
Linda graduated from Paschal High in Fort Worth and received a B.S. in science from TCU. Later she received her Teaching Certification from the University of New Mexico. She loved her years teaching Physical Science and Biology at Los Alamos Middle School.
Linda was a beloved wife, mother, friend, teacher, professional colleague, coach and mentor. She served others selflessly, lifting up those less fortunate than herself and benefiting all who knew her. Linda demonstrated kindness and generosity toward others through many community organizations. She was gifted with the ability to craft fine quilts that she made with love for family, friends and service organizations. Linda was devoted to the Benjamin Lyon DAR Chapter and served as its Regent.
In addition to over 10 years of middle school teaching, Linda's professional life included early research work on cancer research and other subjects at M.D. Anderson Medical Center in Houston, TX.
Linda and Marion loved their church and community, sharing a wonderful life together and caring deeply for one another. They had many interests in common, combining their energy and enthusiasm for astronomy, bridge, civic volunteering and more. Their family always came first and their granddaughter Vivienne was the light of their life. They showed love and compassion toward all.
They are survived by son Michael Scott and wife Olivia and their child Vivienne Mae and son Stephen Scott. She is also survived by sister Marilyn and husband Larry Ivy, and sisters-in-law Mary Atkinson and Mabel Atkinson, and eight nieces and nephews and their families.
