Lloyd Dale Pitts, 80, died peacefully at his home in New Fairview on January 19, 2024.
Born January 15, 1944, in Grand Prairie, TX to parents Lloyd Raymond and Bertha Mae (Wooten) Pitts, the family moved to Justin, TX in 1949 where Lloyd was an Eagle Scout, a 1962 graduate of Northwest High School and served in Vietnam. Upon his return home, he met and married his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Dale Adams and together they had three children.
Lloyd's professional life was as a mechanic, servicing the Justin and New Fairview communities for many years repairing both automobiles and farm equipment. He was also a hobby farmer and planted a large garden every year, the bounty of which he shared with friends and family.
He was a lifelong hunter, and enjoyed camping, cruising the Caribbean, swap meets, working on his prized '57 Chevy Bel Air, meeting his friends for breakfast at the nearby Take-A-Break, and volunteering with the Wise County chapter of the Disabled American Veterans
He was a member of New Fairview Christian Fellowship Church.
Lloyd was preceded in death by son Mark Edward Pitts; parents Lloyd Raymond and Bertha Mae Pitts; sister Virginia Sue Collings; nephew Charles Robert Collings, Jr; and twin brother Floyd Gale Pitts.
He is survived by his beloved wife Carolyn; daughter Jana D'Ann Pitts of Denton; daughter Laura D'Lynn Pitts and son-in-law Ben Poush of Denton; grandson Brendan Caleb Gomez of New Fairview; sisters Cora Mae Aidnik of Gladstone, MO, and Martha Lou McPherson of Runaway Bay, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm on Monday, January 22, and funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 W. University Dr., Denton, TX 76201. Burial immediately following at Justin Cemetery.
The family would like to thank all of Lloyd's many friends for their love and support through this past year during his fight with brain cancer.
