Lora Ozell Hodson's Obituary

Lora Hodson was born June 23, 1929 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and passed away on April 17, 2020. Lora was the daughter of George H. Leugemors and Juanita (Franklin) Leugemors. She spent her life in Oklahoma City until she married Frank A. Hodson on November 17, 1951. She graduated from Oklahoma City University in January of 1952. She moved to Chicago, Illinois with her husband while he attended McCormick Theological Seminary and while there sons Kenneth and John were born.

Lora's intended vocation was to become a Christion Education Director, but instead, her role was changed to being a Minister's wife. Most of her life then consisted of helping in various ways in Presbyterian churches her husband served. She spend years as a Sunday School teacher, singing in the church choir, working with women's associations not only on the local level, but held office in the Presbyterian Women organization on the district level and a term on the state level of Presbyterian Women. In 1964, she attended the national women's meeting held at Perdue University as a member of the choir and later was a delegate to a National Women's meeting held at Montreat Conference Center near Ashville, North Carolina. She also served on the church's committees on two different committees in the Presbytery, (district). For several years she was organizer and director of Youth Choirs.

Lora's work extended beyond helping in churches her husband served, but outside those circles also. While in Yates Center, she served on the Library Board and worked tirelessly on "The Bricks Fine Art Gallery" which she helped organize, was a charter member and served on the Art Gallery Board for several years. Helping renovate a building in which to house the Art Gallery was a passion of hers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son, John Hodson and husband, Frank A. Hodson.

Surviving members of her family are her son, Kenneth Hodson and wife, Jan and sisters, Nita Lax of Burkburnett, TX and Mary Swan and husband, James of E. Sandwich, MA.

Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
