Brooks

Louise Craven Brooks, 93, passed Friday, July 20, 2018 at her home in Denton, Texas. She was born July 8, 1925 to Jake and Cora Craven.
She graduated from Denton High School and later married John M. Brooks. After completing her education degree at the University of North Texas, she taught first grade for over twenty years. She was a member of Aerial Club, The Woman's Club, the Hoe and Hope Club, several bridge groups, and volunteered in several capacities at First United Methodist Church in Denton. She loved to garden, entertain, and travel with friends and family.
Most of all she loved her family, especially her granddaughters, Rachel and Julia. Louise is survived by her son John Brooks and wife, Diane, of Dallas, her granddaughter, Julia Brooks of Dallas, and her granddaughter, Rachel Brooks Norfleet, and her husband, Kevin of Dallas. She is also survived by Pat Hill of Mont Pielier, Vermont, Beverly Mowery of Frisco, Jennifer and Michael Adel of Frisco, Joy Johns of Crane, Virginia and Dick Craven of Denton, Jack and Kathleen Craven of Corinth, Holly and Michael Dennis of Austin, Lynn and Ed Bacon of Austin, Allyson and Mike Marshall of Austin, and Kristin and Brendon Trautman of Portland, Oregon.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, John M Brooks, her sister, Avis Craven Greenup, and brother, Jake Craven, and her sister-in-law, Mabel Craven.
Her family appreciated the excellent care Louise received from Wuanita Griffin, Amy Edmonds, Gay Zakery, Ena Boman and Diane Robinson.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Denton on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in Cole Chapel with a reception to follow at the church. A private family gravesite service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to First United Methodist Church in Denton.
