IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Loyd "Ron"
Smith
October 9, 1951 – February 6, 2024
Loyd "Ron" Smith, 72, of Krum, Texas passed away on February 6, 2024. He was born in Farmersville, Texas to Loyd and Siddle (Blankenship) Smith on October 9, 1951.
Ron was a self-made business man. He started while working in high school at Loyd's Rental, then decided to branch out and start his own business with Snap-On Tools, where he operated for 3 years. He then went to Mac Tools where he operated for close to 10 years, and while he was with Mac Tools he purchased Sherman Drive Shell Station and his very first wrecker. This purchase is what started Ron's Towing which he owned and operated till retirement in 2020. It did not take long for him to realize he wasn't cut out for the retirement life and went to work part time at EJ's Towing.
Ron's love for the outdoors gave him may opportunities. From fishing in his early years, to his real love of hunting, and who better to go on these adventures with him than his hunting buddy Wendall Berry! His love of hunting took him to Africa, New Zealand, Wyoming and even Kansas. He came home from his travels with some amazing trophies that he was very proud of.
Ron is survived by his wife, Dianne Smith of Krum, Tx., daughters, Christie French and husband Mike of Krum, Tx., Jennifer Hurley and her husband, Jamie of Krum, Tx., grandchildren, Wyatt Smith, McKenna French, Jase Hurley, Kason Hurley, Atlas Hurley, Justin French, Jarrett French, Elizabeth Fuller, and Camron Palmer.
