In Loving Memory of Luciano Hernandez Jr.
It is with profound sadness, yet with faith in God's promises, that we announce the passing of Luciano Hernandez Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. Luciano passed away peacefully and entered into the presence of the Lord on June 29, 2026, in Denton, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Luciano was born on July 21, 1954, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, to Luciano Sr. Hernandez and Julia Hernandez. As a young boy, he grew up in Edinburg, Texas, before eventually making Lubbock, Texas his home, where he spent most of his life building a career, raising his family, and creating countless cherished memories.
Luciano worked as a foreman and machinist, earning the respect of those around him through his strong work ethic, leadership, and dedication. He was a great role model who led by example, always willing to lend a helping hand and offer wisdom to those who sought it.
Outside of work, Luciano found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. He loved being outdoors, attending family gatherings, making special memories with his grandchildren, taking trips to waterparks, and enjoyed spending time at his rooster farm. He also enjoyed visiting and socializing with friends, bringing warmth, laughter, and kindness wherever he went.
Above all, Luciano was a man of unwavering faith. He had a deep and sincere love for our Lord Jesus Christ, and his faith guided the way he lived his life—with humility, compassion, generosity, and love for others.
Luciano is survived by his loving wife, Isabel Hernandez, and his children: Liza Alonzo (Johnny) of Lubbock, Texas; Luciano P. L. Hernandez III (Amy) of Lubbock, Texas; Lori Salinas (Timothy) of Lewisville, Texas; Frankie Hernandez (Kasey) of Leander, Texas and Anthony Hernandez of Lubbock, Texas. He also leaves behind 27 cherished grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Gregorio Hernandez, Mario Hernandez, Rolando Hernandez, Carmen Cabello, Blanca Rodriguez, Martha Escobedo, and Santa Ramirez.
Luciano was preceded in death by his parents, Luciano Sr. Hernandez and Julia Hernandez; his brothers, Jesus Omar Hernandez and Hector Hernandez; and his beloved granddaughter, Shiloh F. Hernandez.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Luciano's life and honor the remarkable legacy he leaves behind.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing."2 Timothy 4:7–8
