Lula Faye Dossey Murray, 87, entered into the next stage of life eternal on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at her home in Valley View, Texas, surrounded by her two daughters, Judy Murray Chapman of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Rev. Cheryl Murray, pastor of Valley View United Methodist Church. Born September 5, 1932 in San Antonio, she is now at peace and reunited with her loved ones who preceded her in death: her husband of 59 years, Jimmy B. Murray; four beloved older sisters, and her mother and father, Tom and Odessa Wilder Dossey.
She is survived by her daughters, one son-in-law, Franklin R. Chapman of Lafayette; two grandchildren: Erica Joy and Brandon Ray Chapman of Lafayette, a granddaughter Alex Grace Murray of Valley View, Texas; and three great grandchildren: Charley Renee Little of Maryland, Emily Claire LeBleu and Audrey Ray Chapman of Lafayette; she will also be missed by her beloved dog Eliza Doolittle.
Lula Faye was a member of the Baptist church for all her adult life, serving as Sunday school teacher of five-year-olds and church secretary for many years. She raised her daughters along with her husband Jim in Harlingen, Texas, where they lived for 45 years. In recent years, she lived with her daughter Cheryl in Flower Mound, Wichita Falls, and Valley View, Texas.
Burial will take place at DFW National Cemetery on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 10:15 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cooke County Hospice, in her name.
