Lupe Martinez, 78, of Denton, Texas received his heavenly reward while surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 28, 2022 in Denton. He was born in Santa Rosa, Texas on April 12,1943 to Jose Maria Vasquez and Antonia Morales and was adopted and raised by his parents Jose and Julia Martinez.
Lupe loved his country and was enlisted in the United States Army National Guard during the Vietnam war. Lupe retired from Moore Business Forms and became active in the Texas Honor Guard and the American Legion for many years.
Lupe was a hard worker and was extremely dedicated to his family. He also enjoyed spending time with his veteran's group and giving back to the community.
Lupe enjoyed traveling to Mexico frequently to visit family and was an avid lover of animals and dogs. He is remembered by his family as being a great father, a patriot and fiercely loyal to his children. He never failed to ask about all of his grand and great grandchildren who were "his babies". Lupe was a kind and generous man, and he will be greatly missed.
Lupe is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary J. Martinez and son, Joshua Martinez, brothers; Chuy, Pancho and Joel Vasquez and sister, Linda Rodriguez.
He is survived by his children, Jesse Martinez and wife Sandra of Celina and Lori Dean and husband Perry of Denton, his grandchildren; Jazelle Rankin (Justin), Morgan Bretz (Troy), Micaela Martinez, Xavion Martinez, Nick Dean (Alex), Madeline Dean, Jada Martinez, Celeste Martinez, Alicia Gonzalez, and Adam Gonzalez. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Josiah King, Oliva King, Mila Bretz, Alec Martinez, Donovan Dean, Valentina Aaronson, Joseph Wade, Alex Wade, Emily Wade, Lea and Adam Gonzalez.
Lupe also leaves behind his beloved pets, Bella and Dino.
There will be a visitation held in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors at noon on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. The funeral service will follow, beginning at 2:00 PM. with Pastor Sam Redfearn officiating. Interment will be at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey, where he will be reunited with his beloved wife, Mary.
