Manuel De Jesus "Roche" Monterroso, de 76 años, de Denton falleció el 26 de Abril de 2022 en Denton. Nació el 25 de Diciembre de 1945 en la Ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala.

Creció en Santa Caterina Pinula donde era carnicero y pasaba las tardes jugando fútbol. Más tarde se mudó a Chicago, donde trabajó en soldadura y mantenimiento durante 18 años en Castwell Products LLC. Sin embargo, era más conocido como un experto en todos los oficios.

En Chicago, pasaba el Sábado por la mañana con sus hijas viendo lucha libre. Nunca pasaba un momento sin que sonara música. Le encantaba la música de rock, la música de disco y cualquier cosa de los 70 con Diana Ross. Le encantaba especialmente la moda de la época y vestirse como Don Johnson de Miami Vice.

Más adelante en la vida se reunió con su novia de la infancia en Denton, Texas después de 47 años. Se casó con María Apolonia "Pola" Monterroso (Tules) el 26 de Marzo de 2011. Juntos pasaban sus días haciendo jardinería, acampando, pescando, manteniendo el hogar, cuidando a todas sus mascotas, y amando a sus nietos y bisnietos. Roche siempre se mantuvo amable y humilde, compartiendo su tiempo sin pensarlo dos veces. Encontró alegría en las cosas más simples de la vida. Le gustaba contar historias de su juventud mientras disfrutaba de una cerveza y siempre encontraba emoción en una gran broma.

Le sobreviven su esposa, Maria Apolonia "Pola" Monterroso, hijas, Joana Monterroso, Lissette Monterroso, Julissa Monterroso, Naty Guzman, Sorey Barillas e Iliana Barillas, hijos, Nelson Gonzalez, Jaime Gonzalez, Leo Garcia, diecisiete nietos y trece bisnietos. Le precedieron en la muerte su madre, padre y hermana, Thelma Monterroso.

La familia recibirá a los amigos el Martes 3 de Mayo de 2022 de 5 a 6 p.m. Seguirá un servicio de vigilia a las 6:00 p.m. en la Capilla de los Directores de Funerarias DeBerry.

La familia pide que solo se envíen plantas y no flores.

Manuel De Jesus "Roche" Monterroso, 76, of Denton passed away on April 27, 2022 in Denton. He was born on December 25, 1945 in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

He grew up in Santa Caterina Pinula where he was a butcher and spend his afternoons playing soccer. He later moved to Chicago where he worked in welding and maintenance for 18 years at Castwell Products LLC. However he was better known as a jack of all trades.

In Chicago, he would spend his Saturday morning with his daughters watching wrestling. He never spent a moment without music playing. He would blast 70's rock, disco, and anything with Diana Ross. He especially loved the fashion of the time and dressing as Miami Vice's Don Johnson.

Later in life he reunited with his childhood sweetheart in Denton, Texas after 47 years. He married Maria Apolonia "Pola" Monterroso (Tules) in March 26, 2011. Together they spent their days gardening, camping, fishing, making home improvements, caring for all of their pets, and loving their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Roche always remained kind and humble, sharing his time and giving without a second thought. He found joy in the simplest things in life. He enjoyed telling stories of his youth while having a beer and always found excitement in a great prank.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Apolonia "Pola" Monterroso , daughters, Joana Monterroso, Lissette Monterroso, Julissa Monterroso, Naty Guzman, Sorey Barillas, and Iliana Barillas, sons, Nelson Gonzalez, Jaime Gonzalez, Leo Garcia, seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister, Thelma Monterroso.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 5-6pm. A vigil service will follow at 6PM in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors.

The family asks that only plants be sent and not flowers.
