IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret "Margie"
Louise Pelzel
June 14, 1929 – July 31, 2024
We celebrate and cherish the life of our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Margaret Louise "Margie" Pelzel. She passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024 at the age of 95. She was born June 14, 1929 in Ennis, Tx to Rosa and Louie Blazek. She married Joe Pelzel August 1, 1950. With God's blessing, Margie and Joe are reunited to celebrate their 74th wedding anniversary. They had three children, Donna, Larry, and Judy.
Avid Mean Green fans for decades, Margie and Joe rarely missed a home football or basketball game. She worked at the UNT campus bookstore for 28 years. After retiring from UNT, Margie spent another 10 years working at Voertman's book and gift store. She truly enjoyed helping students make their college experience as memorable as possible. Margie was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton. She was a founding member of the Alter Society, a women's group that helped keep the church in good order as well as comfort people during times of need. For years she personally delivered food to "shut-ins." She also delivered holy communion to area residents living in nursing homes and those not able to make it to church. Margie never met a stranger, was honest to a fault, and always willing to help…regardless of the situation. She loved gardening, cooking, traveling, and welcoming friends and family to her home. No one ever left her house hungry because she always had something delicious for her guests to eat.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Joe, son in law Larry Kerner, and her sister Rose Boerner. She is survived by Donna Kerner, Judy Pelzel and Greg Dennis, Larry and wife Amy Pelzel. Her ever- beloved Grandchildren; Shannon Floyd and husband Jonathan, Sydney Cox and husband Sean, Shelby Denison and husband Zach, Payton Pelzel and wife Randi, Madelyn Caskey and fiancé Austen Wise, Ryan Caskey and girlfriend Emily Singleton. Great grandchildren Jaxie Mcgaha, Jameson Floyd, Dustin Pelzel, and Kylie Denison. Margie loved her grandchildren above all else and they affectionately knew her as "Memaw." She is also survived by one sister Mary Ann Dobias, and three brothers Frankie, Joe, and Richard Blazek.
Margie never had the strength to pass up a "Mr Goodbar" candy bar. No matter what time of day, she always thought they were fair-game!
