Marguerite (Marge) Hayashi, 92, passed on Oct. 23 in Denton, Texas, where she had lived since moving from Bay Village, Ohio, in 1982.
She was an avid sewer, knitter and cross-stitcher, who regularly made Christmas stockings for all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those who visited her could find her putting jigsaw puzzles together and were welcome to assist.
Born in New Bedford, MA, the youngest of five children, she moved with her family to Montreal for several years before returning to New Bedford. After graduating from St. Anthony High School in 1948, she eventually settled in Bay Village, Ohio, where she was a homemaker. After her children were grown, she went to work as an executive secretary at prestigious Penton Publishing in Cleveland.
She was married to Kinji Hayashi (deceased 2010) in 1981 and they moved to Denton in 1992. They enjoyed traveling across the US, Canada and Europe. She loved taking her grandchildren along on road trips, visiting relatives and historic sites around the country.
She is survived by her four children: Jocelyn M. Stroupe; Lisa B. Flood; Robert J. Stroupe Jr; and Madelein M. Blundred; and her three stepchildren: Glenn D. Hayashi; Gloria A. Siebold; and Gerald E. Hayashi; and by her 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
