Maria Del Carmen Salazar De Luna passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, in Krum, Texas surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on November 5, 1951, in Melchor Múzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico, to Rafael and Consuelo Salazar. Maria attended school in Mexico and on December 9, 1969, married, Leopoldo Luna Lerma. Over their 55 years of marriage, they immigrated to the United States to build a better future for their four children.

Maria was a dedicated and hardworking woman, holding several jobs before settling into a long-term position with Morrison Milling Company in Denton, where she worked for many years until her retirement. She took great pride in her home and loved tending to her flowers, mowing her yard, and rearranging her furniture—often on a weekly basis. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and extended family. Her vibrant spirit, thoughtful nature, and deep kindness will be dearly missed.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Sergio R. Salazar, Benito Salazar Sr., and Javier Salazar; and her granddaughter, Jessica Marie Luna.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at DeBerry Funeral Directors, followed by a rosary and service beginning at 12:00 PM.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Leopoldo Luna Lerma, and their children; Julio Cesar Luna and wife Laura of Oklahoma City, OK, Laura Elena Luna of Denton, TX, Claudia Patricia Luna of Moore, OK, and Adrian Alberto Luna and wife Magda of Krum, TX.
Grandchildren: Pilar (Noemi) Muñiz, Jr.; Alex (Pete) Briones; Julio C. (Estefany) Luna Jr.; Eduardo (Jennifer) Luna; Ann Marie Palao; Michael Luna; Ariana Luna; and Alexi Luna. Great-grandchildren: Irzan, Mia, Camila, Alena, Santino, and a baby girl expected soon.
She is also survived by her siblings: Romelia Molina, Emilio Salazar, Susana Rodarte, Eliud Salazar, Ramiro Salazar, San Juanita Guajardo, Consuelo Fuentes, and Benito Salazar Jr., as well as other extended family, including her beloved nieces and nephews.
