Maria Bertha Cruz Olivo passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

Maria was born on September 19, 1968, in the mountains of Ancash, Peru. She was the eldest child of Guillermo Cruz and Maria Olivo. From a young age, she lived with her aunt Nicolasa Olivo, who played a significant role in her upbringing and shaped the strong, compassionate woman she became.

In 1991, Maria married her sweetheart, Daniel Exequiel Ortiz. Together, they had three wonderful children in Peru. In 2001, Maria made the courageous decision to immigrate to the United States, determined to provide a better life for her children. Through hard work and perseverance, she learned English and adapted to a new culture, all the while making many friends through her work and church community.

In 2002, the Ortiz family welcomed their final addition, daughter Nicole. Maria cherished spending time with her church family and playing board games with her children. She was the rock for her family here and in Peru, offering guidance and support to help navigate difficult situations. Maria was a pillar of strength, providing her family with a sense of stability and security.

In 2022, Maria began the biggest fight of her life. Despite this, she never stopped offering her help and guidance  to others. Her unwavering faith and the support of both her loving home and church families fortified her, helping her face many trials with grace and courage.

Maria is preceded in death by her father, Guillermo Cruz, and her aunt, Nicolasa Olivo. She is survived by her mother, Maria Olivo; her brothers, Maximo, Ricardo, Gabriel, and Hector; her sister, Nancy; and her cousins, Teresa, Juana, Roberto, and Carlos, all in Peru. Maria is also survived by her husband of 33 years, Daniel Ortiz; her children, Lizbeth Peña (Brandon), Karla Douglas (Lloyd), Jefferson (Bianca), and Nicole; and her three grandchildren, Genesis and Jeremiah Peña and William Douglas.

A viewing and visitation will be held at the Willowwood Church of the Nazarene at 5:00 PM on Thursday, June 27, 2024. Funeral services will also be held at the Church at 5:00 PM on Friday, June 28, 2024.

María Bertha Cruz Olivo falleció el Domingo 23 de Junio de 2024. María nació el 19 de Septiembre de 1968, en las montañas de Áncash, Perú. Fue la hija mayor de Guillermo Cruz y María Olivo. Desde joven, vivió con su tía Nicolasa Olivo, quien jugó un papel significativo en su crianza y formó a la mujer fuerte y compasiva que se convirtió.

En 1991, María se casó con su amor, Daniel Exequiel Ortiz. Juntos, tuvieron tres maravillosos hijos en Perú. En 2001, María tomó la valiente decisión de emigrar a los Estados Unidos, decidida a proporcionar una vida mejor para sus hijos. A través del trabajo duro y la perseverancia, aprendió inglés y se adaptó a una nueva cultura, haciendo amigos inolvidable en su trabajo y comunidad de la iglesia.

En 2002, la familia Ortiz dio la bienvenida a su última integrante, su hija Nicole. María apreciaba pasar tiempo con su familia de la iglesia y jugar juegos de mesa con sus hijos. Fue el pilar de su familia tanto aquí como en Perú, ofreciendo orientación y apoyo para ayudar a navegar situaciones difíciles. María fue una columna de fuerza, proporcionando a su familia un sentido de estabilidad y seguridad.

En 2022, María comenzó la mas dura lucha de su vida. A pesar de esto, nunca dejó de ofrecer su ayuda y orientación a los demás. Su fe inquebrantable y el apoyo de sus amorosas familias en casa y en la iglesia la fortalecieron, ayudándola a enfrentar muchas pruebas con gracia y coraje.

María fue precedida en la muerte por su padre, Guillermo Cruz, y su tía, Nicolasa Olivo. Le sobreviven su madre, María Olivo; sus hermanos, Máximo, Ricardo, Gabriel y Héctor; su hermana, Nancy; y sus primos, Teresa, Juana, Roberto y Carlos, todos en Perú. A María también le sobrevive su esposo de 33 años, Daniel Ortiz; sus hijos, Lizbeth Peña (Brandon), Karla Douglas (Lloyd), Jefferson (Bianca) y Nicole; y sus tres nietos, Genesis y Jeremiah Peña y William Douglas.

Una velación y visita se llevará a cabo en la Iglesia del Nazareno Willowwood a las 5:00 PM el jueves 27 de junio de 2024. Los servicios funerarios también se llevarán a cabo en la iglesia a las 5:00 PM el viernes 28 de junio de 2024.
