Maria Teresa Solis Soto, 59, of Denton , Texas passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 in Denton , Texas . She was born on February 25, 1958 in Edinburg , Texas to Apolonio P. and Anne Maria (Rios) Solis. She married Joe Soto from Marlin, Texas in Denton , Texas .

Maria known by many as Teresa followed her father footsteps in their passion as advocates for education. Teresa was from Donna , Texas . She earned a Master Degree in Education from Texas Women's University. She taught as a Special Education Teacher at the State School in Denton then with Denton ISD and retired as a diagnostician for Denton ISD. Teresa also taught religious education for 18 years at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton .

Maria is survived by her husband of 32 years, Joe, daughter, Stephanie Soto, son, Joseph A. Soto, sisters, Dolores Simmons and husband David, Gloria Rodriguez and husband Hector, brothers, Joe D. Solis and wife Yolanda, Carlos Solis and wife Cynthia, Jaime Solis and wife Ophelia, Luis Solis and wife Nancy, Marco Solis and wife Sandy, one grandson, Anthony Braxton and numerous nephew and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her father, Apolonio Solis.

Visitation will be on Monday, October 16, 2017 starting at 6:00 P.M. , Rosary will start at 7-8 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 10: 30 A.M. with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park .
