Marian Evelyn Bates, 74 of Denton, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the Integrity Hospital in Denton. She was born April 26, 1939 in Groesbeck to Orval and Inith Yarbrough Bates.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2014 at the Ivey Chapel of the Denton State Supported Living Center with Rev. Wes Cohoon officiating. Burial will be at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. Memorials may be made to the Volunteer Services, P.O. Box 368, Denton, TX 76202.

Evelyn is survived by a sister, Ann and husband Calvin Stoner of Gordon TX, nephew, Daryl Morgan and niece, Angela and husband Barry Gober. She was preceded in death by her father, Orval Bates, mother, Inith Mays and stepfather, Gaylord Mays.
