IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marilyn Ann
Williams
October 7, 1939 – March 26, 2024
Marilyn Ann Williams, 84, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
Marilyn was born in Bay City, Michigan in 1939 to Herman and Mildred Vogt. Shortly thereafter, her family moved to Saginaw, Michigan, where she spent the rest of her childhood. Marilyn loved music, playing the flute and piccolo in junior high and high school bands and orchestras. She graduated from the Honors College of Michigan State University as a Distinguished Scholar.
After college, Marilyn served two years in the Peace Corps in what was then West Pakistan, developing and cataloguing a library for an agricultural college. Upon returning home, she would later meet and marry Kenneth Williams in 1973. After her husband passed away in 1992, Marilyn returned to school to become a programmer/Analyst. She then worked for the State of Michigan until her retirement.
Marilyn loved animals, especially dogs. After returning from the Peace Corps, she always had one or two rescued dogs in her household. She volunteered at local animal shelters in both Michigan and Texas.
Tired of the cold Michigan winters, Marilyn moved to Denton, Texas, to be closer to her brothers and their families. She was a devout Christian, enjoying Bible study groups and singing in church choirs. There she joined Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and later helped establish the John Paul II Catholic Church near the University of North Texas.
