Mark Anthony Carl, 57 passed away January 3, 2021 in Decatur, TX. He was born December 25,1963 in Jacksonville, North Carolina.

Mark grew up in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, graduating from Trinity High School in Euless, TX, in 1982.  After attending Tarrant Community College, he opened Belaire Sporting Goods in Euless, TX, where he learned business ownership.  He soon joined Farmers Insurance, where he worked for 34 years, creating the award-winning Mark Carl Agency, currently based in Roanoke, TX.

Mark was devoted to his wife Holly and his family.  He volunteered countless hours helping them in various school and sports-related activities.  He loved sports and worked closely with the Argyle School Booster Club and AYSA in which his children were involved.

Mark was a determined visionary and worked hard for his family.  "He was one of the most generous people I've ever known," said Chris, a nephew living in North Carolina.

With strong North Carolina ties, Mark had started building a future home near the seaside village of Oriental, N.C. to be closer to his mother, Mildred Bayliss Carl Smith and other family members.

Mark was a mama's boy, and he was proud of it.  For years, he would call his mother practically every night, and they would talk for hours.  To Mark, his mother's welfare was so important. Being closer to his mother was one of the reasons he wanted to spend more time in North Carolina.  "He was the best son anyone could ever have," she said.

Three of his best friends in later life had four legs each.  Mark loved his Labrador Retrievers "Bear" and "Mud" and Cocker Spaniel "Brady."  He made sure they had their own room in the house, but everyone knew they slept at the foot of his bed.

Mark loved Holly and his three daughters more than life itself.

He is survived by his wife, Holly Carl; daughters Julie Carl Briscoe and husband Shelby, Bailey Carl, and Brooklyn Carl; mother and father Mildred and Morgan Smith of Oriental, NC, sister Deborah Manning of Oriental, NC, nephews Stephen John Manning and wife Xarah of Seattle, WA, Christopher Manning of Wilmington, NC, and Joseph Mark Carl of Oriental, NC; and two grandchildren Bennett and Grace Briscoe of Lantana, TX.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday January 16th at 2pm at Argyle United Methodist Church.
