Martha Len Nelson

Martha Len was the daughter of Marcella Stewart and Len Henderson.  She was born on July 26, 1929 in the old hospital on Elm Street in Denton, Texas.  She married L. A. Nelson, Jr. from Hugo, Oklahoma on January 28, 1950.

Martha Len was a sixth generation Texan.  She lived in Denton the majority of her life.  She was very active in arts, music and community events including University of North Texas, her alma mater.  She was a volunteer in Denton and involved with the Dallas Summer Musicals.

Martha Len is survived by five children:  Nancy Len Black (Emory), Susan Wright, Marcella Butler (Mark), Carey Currin (Ken), and Mike (Michelle).  She was predeceased by her husband, L. A. Nelson, Jr. (former mayor of Denton), and one child, Luke Nelson, and one grandchild, Miles Butler.  Martha Len has seven grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

A service will be held for Martha Len Nelson in the main sanctuary at Denton Bible Church on Friday, November 22 at 3:00.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the L. A. Nelson, Jr.  Scholarship at the UNT Dallas College of Law, Denton Community Theater, and the Denton Woman's Club
