Marvin "Earl" Oscar Ratliff, 74 of Livingston, Texas passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020 in Houston, Texas. He was born in Mountain Springs, Texas on May 4, 1945 to Thomas and Mary Ratliff. Earl was a wonderful and devoted husband to Janice Sue Ratliff for 56 years. He was a Father, a coach, a teacher and a great mentor to his children (Shae, Jason and Shawn), grandchildren (John, Julianna, Miranda and Madison) and his 4 great grandchildren.
Earl is survived by his loving wife Janice, his children Shae Christakis, Shawn Mazyn and Jason Ratliff, grandchildren John Wilson Little lll, Julianna Kendrick, Miranda Flores and Madison Ratliff, great-grandchildren, Jubilee and John Little lV, Aubriella and Xavier Abram, mother-in-law Betty Hodge, sisters, Claira Ann and twin sister Pearl, also, many other family members and friends.
To his family and friends, we love you and we know he was a very special man. He offered love, compassion, support, guidance and helped everyone he could. He was extremely talented and smart and so many leaned on him for help and he was always there to assist.
He celebrated 26 years of sobriety on August 8, 2019 and his daughter spoke and gave him his last certificate and chip. He went to the prison once a week to speak to inmates about sobriety. You could find him at almost every noon and evening meeting just incase someone needed him or a new person arrived. He purchased endless amounts of Big Books and gave them freely. You know he will surely be the guest speaker tonight.
In business he was a powerhouse building a company from scratch that is still going strong. There are still many in the industry that ask his family about him daily. When he retired he built a cabin and then a home with his own two hands.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, May 1, 2020 at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas. Flowers may be sent to DeBerry Funeral Directors and donations can be made in his name to: Livingston Counsel for Alcohol and Drug Abuse (LCADA)
