Mary Katherine Carpenter, 83 of Decatur, passed away on March 3, 2018 in Denton, Texas. She was born on April 27, 1934 in Waskom, Texas to Benjamin and Katherine (Farmer) Dry.

She graduated from Waskom High School and University of North Texas with a Teaching Degree. She later worked for the City of Decatur where she was a Librarian at the City Library.

She married J.N. Carpenter in 1955. They had 3 children, John Carpenter, Charles Carpenter and Ann Carpenter.

She is survived by her three children, grandchildren Ben and Carolyn Carpenter.

She is preceded in death by her husband, mother and father and sister Barbara Smith.

A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors at 2:00 PM.
