Obituary

Jean Chambers went home to be with the Lord, June 27, 2015 surrounded by her family. Jean is preceded in death by her amazing, loving and handsome husband, Billy Nolan Chambers and her parents G.C. Pettey II and Mildred Ellis Pettey formerly from Paris Texas.

Jean is survived by one daughter Trayce Chambers and One grandson Matthew Nolan David Ernst both of Denton Texas. Jean has two brothers G.C. Pettey III of Tyler, Texas and Michael Goy Pettey of Houston. Jean has two sisters in laws, 5 nephews, 11 cousins and one Great Aunt Mary Lee Perkins of Bennington Oklahoma. Jean was diagnosed with Lymphoma, June 16, 2015.

Jean is most noted for her tenure at the City of Lake Dallas from 1974 to 1985. While the City Secretary/City Manager, Jean ushered in a new era of efficient managing, new policies and procedures and standard of excellence none had seen before. Jean had an open door policy and listened to all who came in asking for her and most nights stayed late working because she reserved the working hours for the people.

Jean knew the Lord Jesus Christ and was raised in the Baptist Church. Jean was a philanthropist, activist and community leader. Everyone who knew her was touched by her intelligence and kindness. She will be missed by all she touched.

The family will receive friends at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Lake Cities United Methodist Church in Lake Dallas, Texas.
