Mary LaJean Davis Sherrill, 86, of Denton passed away on April 7, 2015 in Denton, Texas. Mary was born in Denton, Texas to Floyd Eugene and Mary Alice Davis on May 8, 1928.
Mrs. Sherrill graduated from Texas Woman's University with an Under Graduate and Master's degree from T.W.U. She married the late Joe W. Sherrill in Denton, Texas. She was employed with the Denton Independent School District for 34 years as an Art Teacher at Denton High School, her last years in teaching were at Billy Ryan High School in Denton.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Denton, she enjoyed Genealogy, Stamp Collecting, being a grandmother and great—grandmother.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Ann Sherrill of Denton, son, Joe Davis Sherrill and wife, Alonda Kim (Gay/Newton) grandchildren, Loni JoAnn Sherril White and husband Paris Dylan, Joshua Adam Sherrill and Jennifer Stephenson, and Joseph Paul Sherrill. Great-grandchildren, Aden Christopher White, Skylar Rose White, Jocelyn Grace White, Colton Dylan White, Harper Jo Sherrill and Bradyn Stephenson.

There will be an open viewing at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas Thursday, April 9, 2015 and until Friday Morning. There will not be a formal visitation but friends are invited to come by to pay their respects if desired. There will be a private interment prior to a memorial service. A Memorial Service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Denton in the Cole Chapel on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jon Kendzie officiating.
