Mary Etta Ehler went to walk with Jesus on April 29, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mary Etta Bednarz was born to Alvin and Helen Bednarz on August 19, 1943, in Slaton Texas. She was one of six children. Raised in Pep, Lorenzo and Slaton, Texas. She graduated from Mount Saint Mary's High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After graduation, she came back to Texas where she met the love of her life Gene Ehler. They married on September 5, 1963. Together they raised three children. After Gene retired they began traveling. They saw all 50 states and traveled the world with their favorite trip being to the holy lands.
Mary Etta's interests were sewing, reading, quilting, ceramics, crocheting, traveling and playing Words With Friends. She was a devout Catholic. She didn't like spicy food, but she loved forensic crime shows and black jelly beans.
Mary Etta/Mom is survived by:
Her husband of 60 years, three children Suzanne Copeland and husband Rodney (of Katy), Sheila Simmons and husband Steve (of Midland) and Lance Ehler and wife Shelly (of Oak Point). Eight grandchildren: Andrew Ehler, Alyssa Ehler, Alec Ehler, Joshua Payne, Jacob Payne, Jessica Payne, Megan Billnoske, Trey Copeland and their spouses. Eight great grandchildren: Parker, Emmy, Beckett, Axel, Aiden, Christina, Tucker and Abby. Brothers: Donald Bednarz, Royce Bednarz, Kenneth Bednarz, Sister: Shirley Moerbe, brothers and sisters in laws and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Wayne Bednarz.
Rosary will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 1:30, the funeral will start at 2:00. Both will be at St. Mark Catholic Church in Argyle.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Mark Catholic Church of Argyle's building fund, Cassie Volunteer Fire Department (P. O. Box 184, Buchanan Dam, Texas 78609), Solaris Hospice or your favorite charity.
The family would like to thank Solaris Hospice, St. Mark Catholic Church and the family and friends who have reached out with prayers during this final trip of Mom's.
