Mary Etta James, 81, of Valley View, Texas passed away on July 6, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in National City, California to William Harry Webb Sr. and Elma Ruth Blalock on November 18, 1942.

Mary was raised in Imperial Beach, California. Mary was working for her mother at Todd's Drive- inn when she met the love of her life, Skip James, while he was stationed at Ream Field and serving in the U.S. Navy. After a short courtship they married in El Centro, CA on October 18, 1958.

After the birth of their children, Terry, Danny and Tammy, they settled in the North Texas area. Mary was a homemaker to her family. She also enjoyed serving others through housekeeping. The things Mary enjoyed most in life was spending time with her family. She loved to dance, listen to music, watching game shows, playing bingo, slots at the casino and driving fast cars.

She is survived by her daughters, Terry James Shepard, of Valley View, Texas, Tammy Forsythe of Colorado, son, Danny James, and his wife Beth of Krum, Texas, sister, Bonnie Allen of Coronado California, brothers, Bud Webb and his wife, Vonda, of Coronado California, Paul Todd and his wife, Tami of Alpine California, Ron Todd and wife, Marlene of Mesa Arizona, and Don Todd and his wife, Tresea of Mesa Arizona; Sisters-in law Barbara Perkins and husband Lenny of Whitney, TX, and Linda Landers and husband David of Valley View, TX; Grandchildren Clint Shepard and wife Jennifer, Brandon Shepard and wife Jamie, Justin James and wife Casie, Kandy Howard and husband Chad, Amber Cheek and husband Cole; Great-grandchildren Coleton, Wyatt, Nicolas & Megan, Grace, Noah, Austin & Sydney, Kimber, Alex, Logan, Jordan, Hunter, Cason, Olivia, Dallas, Tristan, Chloe, Lake, and Cori. Along with multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins in which she loved.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin "Skip" James, her father, Williams Harry Webb Sr., Mother & Father, Elma & Paul Todd Sr., sister, Betty Chambers, brothers Bill Webb and Dick Webb, son-in-law, Duane Shepard, and granddaughter, Shannon Simmons.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 10-11 AM in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 AM in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Sanger Cemetery in Sanger, Texas.
