Obituary

Mary L. French, age 85, passed away Sunday, May 20 at 10:30 PM in Denton. Born Mary Louise Thomas, June 26, 1926 in Dodsonville, TX to Rev Sam and Naomi Thomas, she was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don French, siblings Albert S. Thomas of Claude, Sam Junior of Amarillo, and Edwin Lee of Kirtland, an a daughter, Lynda Louise Williams of Mobeetie, TX.

As a child, Mary lived in Dodsonville, Tulia, Mobeetie, Canyon and Dalhart, TX. She married Don French in Clayton, NM in 1942 and throughout her adult life has lived in various towns in the Texas Panhandle, and as far north as Lincoln, NB and as far south as San Antonio, TX. She was a lay minister in the Methodist church, and has served in various ministerial capacities over the years. She was widely recognized as a woman of great faith and has influenced the lives of many people. For the last three years she has lived and ministered in Denton.

She is survived by her two sons, Gerry and Karl French, their wives Norma and Carroll, six grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren, various nephews and nieces and a multitude of church family all over the state. A memorial service will be conducted at the Foursquare Gospel Church in Amarillo, TX with Reverend Burton McIlroy presiding. The family wishes to thank her close friends from Primrose Apartments and the First Presbyterian Church in Denton who have been at her side these last months.
