Obituary

Mary Juanita Hopkins went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 8th, 2024, she passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family that loved her dearly in Slidell, Texas. She was born in Bentley, Oklahoma to Annie Loraine Willson & Hubbert Talbott on August 1st, 1942.

Mary worked as a mail carrier at the United States Post Office for many years where she later retired, after her retirement she spent her time traveling, seeing the world & spending time with family. She visited all 50 states & 13 countries, she traveled on many cruises & trips with family & friends over the years. She lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed building her collection of Red Depression Glass, canning jelly and hosting big family get togethers at Thanksgiving, Christmas & Easter, she truly was the Matriarch of our family. She lived a life full of love, dedication, and commitment to her family. If anyone ever needed anything she was there.

We have so many amazing memories that we will cherish forever. We had just celebrated her 82nd birthday one week before her passing & she was so happy to have us all there with her to celebrate. She loved and cherished her family & the time we all got to spend together. She was such a kind, loving & welcoming person, she left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She fought a good fight after her cancer diagnosis, but the Lord was ready for her to come home. She will be missed by so many, but we know her pain & suffering will be no more in the house of the Lord.

Mary was joyfully greeted in Heaven by her Granny, Pappy, Mother, Father, Sisters Kathy & Anna Ruth, brother-in-law Dewayne Dawson & her youngest Son Morgan,
