Obituary

Mary Helen Plant age 93, passed peacefully on July 15,2026 at her daughter Debbie and son in law Paul Weigenant’s home, which she lived for 3 years. Born on May 20, 1933 in Grayson County, Gordonville, Sherwood Shores area in North Texas. Her parents were Alice and Carey Davidson and she was the seventh of nine children.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Carey & Alice Davidson, her siblings, Dewy, Don, Charles, Britt Davidson, Dale Thacker, Elaine Hughes & Ann Gabriel. Her youngest son David Plant, grandson Taylor Plant, granddaughter Jennifer Spillane and husband of 62 years Tom Plant. 

She is survived by her children Doug, Larry and Debbie; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren. 

When Lake Texoma was built, the family's farm land was taken as part of the project and they then moved to Denison where Mary Helen went to school. She married in 1948, had 4 children, and divorced in the late 50's. She found the love of her life, Thomas Plant, and together they built a family and taught their children about unconditional love. In the late 60's they opened their first Sewing Machine Store and she became the best at selling sewing machines in all of North Texas. Mary Helen was a member of First United Methodist Church of Watauga then moved to Denton with her daughter 3 years ago. She was truly a remarkable, strong and loving person.
