Mary Jane "Janie" Robinson, 78, of Denton, Texas passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022. Janie was born in Ranger, Arkansas on December 9, 1943 to John L. and Willie E. Staten. She was one of their seven children.

She was raised and attended schools in DeKalb, TX, graduating high-school in 1960. She moved to Dallas, TX with her sisters where she eventually met and marred Ronnie Robinson, To whom she was married for over 20 years.  They eventually relocated to Krum, TX.  There, Janie raised her son Ron and volunteered for the Krum Public Library as well as the Krum High School Library.

After her divorce from Ronnie, Janie relocated to Denton, purchased a home, and worked as a Financial Aide Counselor for the University of North Texas from where she retired after 20+ years of service.  She helped many students secure their education through her work at UNT, but touched everyone she worked with and knew with her positive attitude and smile.

Mary was a lifelong member of the Baptist faith and regularly attended Denton's Gateway United Baptist church up until her passing. Often, you would find her at the Denton Senior Center line dancing, exercising, or volunteering.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Willie Staten, her brother's Pete and Joe, as well as her sisters Marie and Marell.

Mary is survived by her son, Ron Robinson Jr., her grandson Gavin Robinson, her granddaughter Isabella Robinson, her sister's Betty Harmon and Faye Torbert.

Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Buddy Owens officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. There will be a graveside at Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in DeKalb, Texas beginning at 4:00 P.M.
