Mary Carolyn Self, a long-time resident of the Denton area, died at home Thursday, May 2, 2019. She was born in 1928 in Madill, OK.

Carolyn was a loving friend, mother, and grandmother. She married Horace Self in 1947 and raised two children, Dana Lynn and John Steven. She loved Bible study and get-togethers with her family, and she especially loved celebrating birthdays.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Dana Dillenberg; son-in-law, Mark Dillenberg; son, John Self; daughter-in-law Jeanne Self; her 9 grandchildren, Cherise Graham and husband Jason; Michelle Reneau; David Reneau and wife Rebecca; Jonathan Dillenberg and wife Angela, Joan Moore; Stephen Dillenburg; Michael Self; Maggie Vaught; and James Self and wife Renee. She had 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Reneau, Jonathan Dillenberg, Stephen Dillenburg, Jason Graham, James Self, and Jonathan Dillenberg Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Denton Bible Church. Interment will follow at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas at 2:15 P.M.
