Obituary

Mary Lou Twehous, 90, of Denton, Texas passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021 with her husband by her side. She was born in Norfolk, Nebraska to William and Sophia Schendt on July 6, 1931.

Mary Lou attended schools in Nebraska, where she graduated high school. On June 19, 1954, Mary Lou married the love of her life, Raymond Twehous in Grand Island, Nebraska. They went on to raise five children together: Dale, Jeanne, Diane, Debra, and Marcie.

After Ray's career brought them to the Denton area, the pair embraced being "Dentonites". As devout Catholics, on Saturdays you would find Ray and Mary Lou at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for Mass.

Outside of her family and faith, Mary Lou gave back to her community; most notably by volunteering at St. Vincent De Paul and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Prior to her retirement she worked for Denton ISD, where she served as the Administrative Assistant for the Special Education Department.

Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents and son, Dale William Twehous. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ray Twehous; daughters, Jeanne Twehous and husband Bill Aughton, Debra Twehous and husband Kelly Smith, Diane Takats and husband Tony Takats, and Marcie Ochsner and husband Tim Ochsner; sister, Shirley Schendt, brother Jim Schendt and wife Dee Schendt, and nine grandchildren.

A Rosary will be said on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton at 10:00 a.m., Mass will immediately follow. A private family graveside will be held at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Park, also in Denton, Texas.
