Mattie Mary Davis was born on July 8, 1950, in Denton, Texas, to the late Callie Leanne Riggins and Louis Manuel. She later moved to Amarillo, Texas, where she graduated from Palo Duro High School. Following high school, Mattie pursued her passion for beauty and service by attending Aladdin Beauty School, earning her license as a cosmetologist. Mattie returned to Denton, Texas, where she dedicated over 40 years of her life as a beautician at Regis Salon in Golden Triangle Mall. Serving the greater Denton community, Mattie was known for her warm smile, tireless work ethic, and genuine care for each client. Rain or shine, she faithfully showed up—often picking up extra shifts simply because she loved her craft. Her dedication left a lasting impression on countless clients, many of who became lifelong friends. Beyond her career, Mattie was a fun-loving, caring, and a charismatic mother and grandmother. She never met a stranger and delighted in striking up conversations—whether sitting on her front porch or standing in line at the grocery store. A true ray of sunshine, Mattie’s joy and kindness radiated throughout the community. A devoted follower of Christ, Mattie faithfully attended St. Andrews Church of God in Christ, where she humbly served as an usher for many years. Her faith guided her life and was a source of comfort to all who knew her. Mattie was preceded in death by Robert Donnell Davis Jr. (son) . Her parents, Callie Leanne Riggins and Louis Manuel. Six siblings, Horse Rhoten, Ora Frances Martin, Margaret Ree Washington, Lee Thurman, Ezekiel Rhoten, and RV Barnett. Mattie leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Larrie Loraine Manuel (Lewisville, TX) , Leanna Marie Davis (Hurst, TX) . One brother Louis Manuel Jr. (Denton, TX). Five grandchildren, Papiphany Manuel, Jansen Manuel, Victoria Santiel, Robert Williams Jr., and Madalynn Williams. As well as a host of family and friends and many who called her Aunt Matt.
