Maxine Peers, 91, of Krum went to be with the Lord on January 17, 2017. She was born on April 2, 1925 in Cooke County, the daughter of Burrett A. and Dovie Irene Cauble Harry.

She graduated from Forestburg High School in 1943, and shortly thereafter, joined her aunt, Veda Magee, in California in the shipyard defense industry during World War II. She married Herbert Gibson, who was in the Navy, and upon his retirement, arrived in Denton in 1960.

In 1967 she married Archie Peers and resided in Alvord, TX from 1971 until 1981. Upon his retirement from the postal service they settled in Krum. She retired from Denton State School in 1987 where she was the clothing supervisor. She was a member of the Twilight Garden Club and the Lady Elks Auxiliary of the Denton Elks Lodge.

She skied the slopes of New Mexico and Colorado for the first time at the age of fifty-three and thoroughly enjoyed that winter time adventure for nearly twenty years. She and Archie made many fall trips to his native Minnesota for the fall color season and to visit with his family and friends.

Maxine is survived by her husband Archie Peers, sons, Bob Gibson and wife Debbie, Jerry Gibson and wife Barbara, Paul Peers and wife Sherry Alred, daughter-in-law, Donna Graham, sister, Norma Harry Moore and husband Jim, brother-in-law, Jerry Nivens, four grandchildren, Sarah Peers York and husband David, Matthew Peers and wife Penny, Cole Peers and wife Christy, Jake Peers, four great-grandchildren, Max Peers, Jacelyn Peers, Cruz York and Dax York.

She is preceded in death by her son Michael Peers, sisters, Montez Nivens, Merle Hudspeth and husband Clifford and brother, Cecil Harry.

Graveside service will be held January 27, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Rosston  Cemetery in Rosston, Texas.
