IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maydell Ann
Mckee Lillard
March 24, 1944 – December 11, 2020
Maydell Ann McKee Lillard, 76 of Denton surrounded by her family, peacefully went to be in the arms of her Heavenly Father on 11th day of December, 2020 from complications due to Alzehmier's.
Born on March 24th, 1944, in Dallas, Texas she was the youngest of five girls born to Archie (Mack) and Sarah Velma Covington McKee from Pilot Point, Texas. She was proud of her younger brother, Johnny Harris.
Maydell was raised in Pilot Point, Texas and shortly after graduating from Pilot Point High School married Tony L. Lillard at the Assembly of God Church in Pilot Point. They began their married life of serving the Lord on October 28,1962. As a faithful pastor's wife, Maydell lived in many different places throughout Texas, Oklahoma and even Nebraska, where her first child was born. Throughout their travels, her favorite place to settle and where she would kick her shoes off as soon as she walked through the door, was a beautiful home in Cross Roads, Texas. Built by her husband in the early eighties, they raised three children and lived there most of their married life.
Maydell was humble, creative, talented, and a friendly woman who brought beauty to all the world around her. She had a keen knack at using a wall as a blank canvas to turn any parsonage or house into a splendidly decorated home for her family. She loved sharing that passion so much she became an independent consultant for the Home Interior and Gifts company for many years. Maydell was a driven and determined individual. After being a homemaker for many years she took night classes to gain the necessary computer skills to begin working at Denton State School as a medical secretary. Maydell eventually moved to the financial aid department at the University of North Texas, until she retired in 2009.
She loved being Grandma, whether sneaking candy to the grandkids or hosting an impromptu tea party. Talking about her grandchildren was always one of her favorite conversations. Her co-workers still recall how much she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
As a woman of God, Maydell had a quiet, gentle and loving spirit. She was never afraid to share her faith and pray consistently for her family, friends and co-workers. Knowing how to persevere, Maydell always kept going even when times were tough. She was a fountain of kindness, grace, and passion: a model of strength who never waned in her support and love for those around her.
Maydell was preceded in death by: her parents, four sisters, Mattie Faye Opitz, Martha Massey, Marie Griggs and Mary Dotson and brother Johnny Harris.
Maydell is survived by: her husband Tony Lillard, oldest daughter, Tonya Davis (husband Danny) of Decatur, Texas, her son Jeff Lillard (wife Amy) of Keller, Texas and her youngest daughter Darla Soye (husband Bill) of Justin, Texas. Maydells legacy continues by her six grandchildren; Aaron Davis (wife Heather), Joshua Davis (wife Robin), Rachel, Rebecca and Hannah Soye, Coby Lillard as well as four great-grandchildren; Jordan Davis, Ryder, Colt and William Davis, nieces and nephews all of whom she loved and adored.
The family will receive friends and family at Faith Tabernacle Church on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 6-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God, 1101 Audra Lane, Denton, Texas 76209 on Wednesday December 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Craig Benner and Reverend James Poteet with Reverend Randy Snow assisting.
